Pianist Chang Helen Jiang is a solo and collaborative musician based in New York City. Jiang is passionate about repertoire ranging from the Baroque to the present day and has performed internationally and throughout the United States. Recent solo performance engages venues across NYC, Illinois, and Puerto Rico. Highlights include engagement in an homage to Marguerite Long presented at NYU’s La Maison Française (2024); a performance of Erik Satie’s Vexations (2023), celebrating the 60th anniversary of John Cage’s historic East Village premiere. With enthusiasm for collaboration with other musicians in any way possible, she has been active as a conducting class pianist, and chamber and ensemble musician. Recently performance has been her appearance as keyboardist for the NYU Broadway Orchestra, and her role as harpsichordist in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Brandenburg project (2023) and pianist in the University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra. Her experience in both musical theater and traditional classical settings. Jiang is dedicated to exploring different genres of keyboard music and is an enthusiastic collaborator.
Recipentant of many international and national awards and scholarships, Jiang received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with highest honors. She is pursuing a Master of Music in Piano Performance and an Advanced Certificate in Piano Pedagogy at NYU Steinhardt, where she studies with Georgian pianist Eteri Andjaparidze. Jiang is currently an adjunct instructor at New York University's Piano Studies. In her free time, she is interested in cooking, languages, and history.
